Somatic AI
Collective
Exploring the dialogue between somatic practice, movement, and artificial intelligence.
We develop artistic and research-based approaches to embodiment, archives, and live systems.
Who We Are
Somatic AI Collective is an artist-research collaboration between Marie Chabert (choreographer and dancer) and Justin Philpott (software engineer and AI researcher).
Our work explores how embodied knowledge and artificial intelligence can inform one another within live performance, research, and experimental contexts.
Embodiment
We centre lived, felt experience and somatic practice as a foundation for inquiry and creation.
AI as Material
We engage artificial intelligence as a creative medium, not simply as a tool, exploring its role within artistic processes.
Liveness
We prioritise presence, responsiveness, and real-time interaction in performance and research environments.
Process over Product
We value rehearsal, experimentation, and emergence, treating process as a site of discovery.
Current Research
We are currently developing a series of practice-based investigations exploring how archival materials, movement, and AI can interact within live and responsive environments.
Our work focuses on how historical traces and embodied practices can be brought into dialogue through dynamic systems, with attention to liveness, perception, and interaction.
Research Threads
Collaborate
We are open to collaborations with artists, researchers, and institutions working across performance, technology, and embodied practice.
